Psychotherapy

Individual Therapy

The purpose of individual therapy is to assist clients in a safe environment to discuss their issues, explore their feelings and beliefs and provide them with helpful feedback. Non judgmental listening is proven to have a very healing effect. Through this, clients can increase their coping skills, establish healthy boundaries, reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression, identify and change addictive patterns, establish healthier and more supportive belief systems, and increase their self-esteem. In addition, clients learn how to better cope with, and reduce their challenging emotions such as anger, fear, and depression. Increased insight, accelerated personal growth, more satisfying relationships and happiness can be some of the results.

Couples Therapy

Couples Therapy assists couples to understand the developmental stages of a couple relationship, and move through life's passages with ease and comfort. It helps couples to identify their personal, couple and life goals, and chart a course to achieve them. Couples are encouraged to identify certain self-defeating patterns that lead to conflict, and transform these into mutually respectful, emotionally focused communication. This, in turn leads to healing, cooperation, caring and increased intimacy. Couples Therapy is helpful at any stage of a relationship, married or not. Couples in crisis, for example after an affair, can achieve some healing and learn constructive steps to rebuild trust. Additionally it can help divorcing couples to work through the relevant issues towards a mutually acceptable solution.

Family Therapy

The purpose of family therapy is to improve family communication and bonding by discussing and exploring past and current issues that produce family discord and suffering. Families can learn skills that assist them in improving their communication and work out their differences in a non-judgmental supportive way. They also learn how to be more attentive and tolerant towards one another, meet each other's needs when appropriate, and learn how to problem solve in a warm and loving way. In addition, parents receive psycho-educational support with child discipline and child rearing issues. Families are encouraged to explore their future goals and transform their life story into a more positive one.

Group Therapy

In group therapy individuals are assisted in discussing their experiences and receive group support. Group therapy is known to have an empowering and healing effect on each person and helps increase coping and communication skills. Different group therapy classes will focus on topics such as: personal growth, relationship enhancement, stress management, parenting, anger management, domestic violence and support with depression and anxiety. For instance, an anger management workshop consist of clients identifying their triggers to anger, healing underlying emotional pain, reframing negative thinking patterns and developing stress/anger management and relaxation skills. The domestic violence/ empowerment group supports clients by educating them about the cycle of violence and how to prevent abuse and recognize "red flags" in a person's behavior. The group helps to increase self-esteem and to receive resources for safety.
